Starting a project to see if there is any interest in a community based on the users of Easy County

(San Diego) lands, such as hiking, biking, running, hunting, riding, etc. I have not seen such as forum

catering to these people, especially when it comes to users of MSCP (Multiple Species Conservation Program)

lands, although there is a lot of government info on it. (Land use, watershed, flora and fauna studies...)

Major changes going on in the site, so things will be shaky for a while, gearing up for some major

Work to be done, but don't expect much until after the end of March 2006. Includes major updates, multiple SQL

servers, dynamic content and multiple domains, more interactive stuff, user uploadable galleries, etc.

OLD -> What’s New?

It’s been almost 3 months since I’ve done any serious updates... Thanks to all who participated in the free card giveaway.  We sent out stuff all over the world, and truth be told, I still have other freebies to possibly handout should it come up. (Read, I reward participation. :)

The ABOUT page details the work on the site, basically adding some galler info on adding an external antenna to a cardbus card, my exploration of media converters for Free Space Optical use, and documenting other things I’ve been doing.

Added web database for links.  The intended use is not necessarily just your own pages, but nifty technical resources, etc.  Please no blatant adverts or rude/crude content, I’ll just remove it anyway. If it should ever become a problem, I’ll just lock it and add entries at users requests.

Looking to gather individuals with similar interests to start a free space optic project with the immediate goal being 100MB/s over air using visible LEDs in the 5000 to peak 22000mcd range and some ways to gang those to a driver without destroying the bias or timing from mismatched devices (maybe not doable with tools available to mortals.)  More information HERE.

WWW.RIPS.TK is a hobby site, mostly centered around things I like, which includes Radio, Computers, the marriage of those 2, audio, video, etc.  Who am I? Just a guy, was really into radio when I was younger.  Like sciences, electronics, technical and precision oriented things. I was really into the BBS scene in the 80’s and early 90’s, ran a group and a BBS. Beta’d lots cool things, like 2400 modems, lol.  First system was 110/300 baud and I had to make the auto answer circuit myself because it didn’t exist. Ran a couple relatively big pirate radio stations a decade ago before you could buy kits.  Went to school to be a broadcast engineer and spent most of my life doing computer related crap.  Been a military contractor recently, but now work for a really huge fortune 500 corp. doing satellite work for the broadcast industry.  (The big industrial stuff, not home dishes. :)
